PROGRAM DETAILS:

OCP offers a minimum of College Prep level in 100% of its courses. Advanced classes are also available, as well as Dual Enrollment at local community colleges.

Art: The Art Program is designed to develop the student’s creativity and ability through many hands-on activities. Since art takes on many different forms and ideas, students are constantly increasing their imagination and skills. Art projects are often displayed throughout the campus and eligible for entry into fine arts competitions.

Chapel: The Spiritual growth of our students (teaching them how to live and lead) is a top priority at Orlando Christian Prep. To effectively reach this goal, each week our students meet corporately for an amazing time of praise and worship and a challenging message from God’s Word. Praise and worship is student-led by the OCP Worship Band. They are always on the lookout for additional instrumentalists. Speakers include Orlando Baptist Church Pastors, staff members and guest speakers throughout the Christian community.

Community Outreach: Students develop leadership ability by first learning to SERVE others. Students have the opportunity to serve others through our Community Outreach program. In 2007-2008 students broke an all time record while collecting food items for our annual Thanksgiving Drive. 2,301 food items were collected. This allowed OCP to give more than a weeks worth of groceries to 27 families as well as stock the pantries of the Orlando Rescue Mission and the Central Florida Children’s home. Additional community endeavors include collecting 500 shoebox gifts for a local elementary school for underprivileged children and various mission projects (locally and globally).

Field Trips: All students attend one or more field trips each year. Permission slips with details about the trip are always sent home well in advance. Overnight field trips each year are: 8th Grade – Science trip Jekyll Island (Georgia); 10th Grade – Biology trip to Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina; 12th Grade – Senior Trip (varies), 9th-12th Grade – High school Retreat.

Foreign Language: High school students must successfully complete two consecutive years of a foreign language. Options include: Spanish, French and Chinese.

Leadership Team: “True leaders have no need to advertise their leadership except by their service, conduct, understanding and ability.” – Unknown -- As part of OCP’s mission, the Leadership class is a foremost tool that trains students to become effective, Christ-like leaders. Students must apply for admission to this class. While academics are important it is not the primary qualification for this class. Students will discover leadership through Christ’s eyes. They will learn to lead by serving, encouraging and increasing unity throughout OCP and the community, as well as receive practical biblical training and mentoring.

Media Center: The Media Center uses technology as its greatest resource. OCP has purchased on-line resources for each student to have free access to thousands of novels, periodicals and encyclopedias. Access is available in the Computer Lab, the Media Center or at home. Username and passwords are available through Librarian, Miss Roy.

Psychology I – Students explore topics such as human development, human learning processes, memory and emotions, birth order and much more.

Technology: Students have an opportunity to master their keyboarding and typing skills, spreadsheets, desktop publishing and HTML web design.

Yearbook: Offered as an elective for students interested in photography and or journalism.
